I Love it!!

Last night Cleo started our very first fire in the fireplace. Now, to most of you this shouldn't be such a big deal, but we were so excited. Kinda like little kids at Christmas almost. You see, it's been almost 13 years since we've had a wood burning fireplace and that was one of the most important things we wanted in this house when we built it. It's been since we lived in Wyoming since we've enjoyed the real warmth of burning wood in a fireplace and not just lighting the gas. We have had a couple of those in all our moves since leaving Wyoming, but it was just never the same feeling. It was in the 40's last evening as we were watching tv and it just felt like the right time to light one. Cleo has quite a bit of wood cut from clearing all the trees in the woods around the yard, but he didn't have much of it split so we only got to enjoy it for about 2 hours before we ran out of wood. We will try to work on that project later in the weekend so we can stockpile for the next time. I guess as I get older, it's really the little things in life that make me the happiest. The smile on Cleos' face and the warmth in our home are the two things that make me the happiest.

I am jealous. I love real wood fireplaces. We have a gas one, but it is not the same.

I am also jealous...I don't even have a fireplace. It's for the best though, I can't even imagine who would chop our wood. I remember our Rock Springs house. It was so fun to sit in front of the TV with Carly and the family watching 90210 and ER. Ha ha ha, oh the days. If only...

OOOHHHHH! I miss a good nice warm fire place! Every now and then dad would have us all gather around our fire place and he would make up some elaborate story just by the light of the fire. They usually were stemmed from "Journey to the Center of the Earth" type of story. But it was fun none the less. But the smell is one of the best parts! Love ya!
